Mona Lisa

Museum Selection- “Painting starts where words end…”
With a high degree of competence and thoroughness, SCHIPPER Arts & Crafts converted all motifs of the “Renowned Painters” series into the Painting by Numbers technique. It is a highlight for every hobby painter to repaint and recreate these precious originals.

The motif: “Mona Lisa”
“Mona Lisa” by Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) is the most famous painting in the world. Her mysterious smile has confused many people and occupied historians ever since. And yet, it is only Lisa Gheradini’s smile, a woman who either was pregnant or had just given birth to a child. The spectacular robbery of the “Mona Lisa” from the Louvre in Paris in 1911 contributed to the fact that it became famous all over the world.

Munich Oktoberfest

The motif: “Munich Oktoberfest”
Since 1810, the famous Munich Beer Festival called “Oktoberfest” has been held on the fairgrounds called “Theresienwiese” (meadow of Therese) in Munich. It is the biggest folk festival in the world. Every year, roughly six million visitors come to participate in the event. Ever since, the Munich breweries have brewed a special dark beer for that occasion, containing at least 13.5 % of original gravity. This is also why the visitors party in the beer tents, accompanied by rhythmic Bavarian brass music. The hobby painter, too, can recall his last visit to the “Wiesn”, as it is called by others, by painting those four typical paintings in a fun atmosphere.

Nuremberg Christmas Market

The motif: “Nuremberg Christmas Market”
In the painting, “Nuremberg Christmas Market” is shown around 1900. It takes places on Nuremberg “Hauptmarkt” (the major market place in Nuremberg) in advent and probably dates back to the 17th century. Attracting more than two mio. visitors, it is one of the largest Christmas markets in Germany and one of the best-known in the world. San Francisco Cable Cars

The motif: “San Francisco Cable Cars”
The history of San Francisco’s “Cable Cars” is interesting. The first cable car line was launched in September 1873. The light-rail system was expanded from 1877 to 1892 until, on April 18, 1906 all railway lines were destroyed in the big earthquake. It took the city until 1947, when a citizens’ action group and a referendum finally resulted in the reconstruction of this historical means of transportation. Since October 1, 1964, the Cable Cars are a United States’ national monument and an attraction for tourists.

The motif: “Taj Mahal – Memorial of Eternal Love”
The tomb made from marble was built by the Indian Great Mogul Shah Jahan in 1651 for his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal who died when she gave birth to her 14th child. Inconsolable because of her death, he had the palace built from sandstone and white marble, a masterpiece of Indo-Islamic architecture, which was made a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983.
