The motif: “Guardian Angel”
In representational art, motifs depicting a guardian angel were adopted by religious salon painting. Because of the decreasing importance of the religious character, the artistic motifs turned into a wall decoration with increasing popularity as of the end of the 19th century. Even today, more than two third of all mankind believe in guardian angels: another proof of our longing for personal care.

The motif: “Mona Lisa”
“Mona Lisa” by Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) is the most famous painting in the world. Her mysterious smile has confused many people and occupied historians ever since. And yet, it is only Lisa Gheradini’s smile, a woman who either was pregnant or had just given birth to a child. The spectacular robbery of the “Mona Lisa” from the Louvre in Paris in 1911 contributed to the fact that it became famous all over the world.

Santa Claus at the Fireplace

The motif:Santa Claus at the Fireplace”
Anticipation is half the pleasure – this goes for Christmas, too. With the evenings getting longer, the crackling fire in the chimney and the scent of Christmas cookies in the air, time has come to paint one of the Christmas pictures so that it will be finished by Christmas Day, no matter if you prefer a classic motif with Santa Claus and his reindeer slide or if you go for him at the chimney or at the romantic fairy tale castle of Neuschwanstein Castle. Santa Claus playing with his electric toy train is a nice Christmas present, too. All motifs make an excellent present painted by yourself and stand for the joyful time at Christmas.

The motif: “The Kiss”
“The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) is a section from a painting. The original measures 180 x 180 cm and was painted from 1907 to 1908. This masterpiece is one of the most important paintings of Jugendstil (Art Nouveau), a genre dating from the turn of the century, which was decisively influenced by Klimt. In the painting, young lovers, intimately entwined, are depicted. The woman’s head is bent backwards and, with her eyes closed, her right arm lays seductively on his shoulder.

With a high degree of competence and thoroughness, SCHIPPER Arts & Crafts converted all motifs of the “Renowned Painters” series into the Painting by Numbers technique. It is a highlight for every hobby painter to repaint and recreate these precious originals.

The motif: “Water-Lily Pond”
When Claude Monet (1840-1926) laid out his famous garden at Giverny, he used it as a motif for many of his garden pictures. The artwork “Water-Lily Pond with Japanese Bridge” was painted in 1899. In the last few years of his life, Claude Monet had developed a severe eye disease. This handicap became increasingly visible in his pictures. After two surgeries, his eyesight was back, but, suffering from depression, he even destroyed half-finished pictures and sketches because he would not allow them to be sold. He died in Giverny on December 5, 1926.

“Lady with a parasol” based on Claude Monet (1840-1926)

The motif: “Lady with a parasol” based on Claude Monet (1840-1926)
Claude Monet painted this world famous tableau in 1886. This artwork reveals him as a master of colors and light and an admirer of female grace. He depicted his charming step-daughter Suzanne Hoschedé in a white two-piece dress with a parasol. She is out and about on a walk on a wonderful summer’s day, flirtatiously protecting her skin from the radiating sun with her parasol. He was so fond of this picture that he was not willing to give it away during his lifetime. One year after his death, it was bought by the Louvre. Ever since, it has been in the Musée d'Orsay’s portfolio in Paris.
